fundamentals_thumbnail_websiteA review of our title, Fundamentals of Fiction Writing appears over at Rough Edges today. You can read the write up here.

Fundamentals of Fiction Writing, as the title implies, is a reference work. Its author, Arthur Sullivant Hoffmann was a long-time fiction editor, guiding the course of Adventure magazines for many years and overseeing the advances of such writers as Talbot Mundy, Harold Lamb, Sinclair Lewis, T. S . Stribling and many others.

Over at Davy Crockett's Almanack is a review of Brand of the Cougar by Norvell Page, of Spider fame. Brand of the Cougar was one of our early publications in chapbook form from 2000. (It may have been our tenth title. We are now approaching one hundred.) It's pleasing to hear that enjoyment still being received from our older publications.

You can read the review here. Thanks Dave!

howard_robt_eThanks to our friends over at REHupa: The Robert E Howard United Press Association for the kind and enthusiastic praise words. They write:

"This is a golden age for pulp reprints . . . Black Dog Books has sprinted, and I mean sprinted ahead to become the leader of pulp reprint authors collections and anthologies. Paradox should give serious thought to allowing Black Dog to do some Robert E. Howard books. I can remember when Tom Roberts was producing cool chapbooks. Now he is producing cool trade paperbacks. I just started reading The Best of Adventure, Volume 1—1910-1912, and am enjoying it mightily."
